Short description: Subject ‘Monogastric animal nutrition” includes issues in field of production of feeds in a farm and commercial mixtures used in a nutrition of each production group of pigs. Explained will be relationship between composition of diet and physiology of digestion and absorption of nutrients. On activities, will be presented possibilities of optimalization animal nutrition with utilization different feed components and effect of nutrition on health of animals and final product of animal origin. Additionally, students gain practical skills evaluation of actual nutritive value of feeds and balance of rations/diets with application of computer programs.
Full description: On activities will be discussed the characteristics of own feed and concentrate mixtures use of these components in the nutrition of individual production groups of pigs. Explain will be the criteria for selection of the appropriate sources of energy, protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals for different age groups of pigs.Aditionally wil be described the relationship between the composition of the ration, and physiology of digestion and absorption of nutrients. Presented will be also possibility of optimization of the nutrition of monogastric animals with the use of different sets of feed. They will discuss the possibility of nutritional risk prevention of animal health and basics effect of nutrition on meat quality .

Learning outcomes: After course completion In area of knowledge: 1. Student knows nutritive value basic feeds use in nutrition of single stomach animals. 2. Student has knowledge about animal requirements for nutrients and knows how proper feed those animals. 3. Student knows basics and principles of diet formulation for different technological groups of pigs. In area of skills: 1. Student can select proper set of feeds for farms kept animals according to different technologies of production. 2. Student can formulate proper rations for single stomach animals from different technological groups. He/She can use nutritional standards and programs to prepare rations for single stomach animals. 3. Student can designed, presented and justify feeding systems different technological groups of single stomach animals depends from kind of farm and used feeds. In area of social competences: 1. Student has awarness of relationship between quality of used feeds, nutritive value of ration and quality of final animal product for human health. 2. Studet knows that can decrease risk effect of negative nutrition on animals by proper evaluation and selection of components to rations of single stomach animas of different technological groups. 3. Studet knows that can decrease risk effect of negative nutrition on animals by proper evaluation and selection of components to rations of single stomach animas of different technological groups.
Assessment methods and assessment criteria: The basis on which the subject is to pass are exercises. The pass mark of exercise is the presence of all classes, and preparation the student to the topic. To complete the course are required to acquire the appropriate skills, representing the proper attitudes by the student and obtain a positive assessment of the two tests carried out. Each exercise is finish when student find corectly solution of the problem. Based on the positive ratings obtained from the project, oral expression and exhibited activity it is to assess the average, which is the basis for receiving credit. Student can have one unexcused absence during exercises in the semester. However, the student should make up for this exercise with another group or embedded include exercise in leading to confirm the skills and competencies in the topic of exercises. The absence excused sick leave mean pass a single exercise; However, the student should make up for this exercise with another group or embedded include exercise in teacher to confirm the skills and competencies in the topic of exercises. In the case of excused absence student in the class to check the knowledge or produce a negative evaluation of the written test the student proceeds back to the test with the range of material that includes orally.
